Not a typical civil rights leader or movement, but a Japanese innovator who\u2019s trying to reshape society in a different way\u2014Yoichi Ochiai. At first, I wasn\u2019t sure if it would fit the theme of \u201csocial movements,\u201d but my teacher said it was okay as long as I could explain how his work brings social change. That gave me confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I plan to begin my presentation with a hook:
\u201cWhat comes to your mind when you hear the word \u2018technology\u2019? Smartphones? Computers? Maybe even Doraemon?\u201d
Since I have classmates from Brazil and Switzerland, I\u2019ll briefly explain Doraemon as a Japanese anime character with futuristic gadgets like the \u2018Anywhere Door,\u2019 to set the stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After that, I\u2019ll introduce Ochiai\u2019s philosophy\u2014how he uses technology to improve quality of life and make culture more inclusive. One of the most exciting examples I found is the \u201cSound Hug,\u201d a device that allows people who are deaf to feel music through vibrations. This kind of invention really shows how tech can empower people and break barriers, which to me, is a form of social transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To explain why I chose him, I plan to say:
\u201cYoichi Ochiai is not a protest leader, but a social change leader. Through innovation and creativity, he challenges how we see technology\u2014not just as tools, but as expressions of human culture.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
